Roosevelt Anderson

Roosevelt Anderson was born in Linden, Alabama to the late Richard Anderson and Annie (King) Anderson on January 11, 1933. Roosevelt was one (1) of twenty-one (21) children. With the exception of two, all have preceded him in death. At the age of thirteen, and with a third grade education, he set out on his own traveling to Detroit, Michigan and then to Rochester, New York, where he join the U.S. Army. On a visit to Pittsburgh, PA he met Leatha Mickens. They were married September 28, 1953. From that union were born six children, two of which died in the first year of life and a daughter, Barbara Jean Anderson, died December 22, 2014. Roosevelt wanted to build and repair houses. He enrolled in Connelly Trade School and became a plumber. He quickly learn the skills of the construction trade. Roosevelt owned, repaired, and managed over 40 properties through out the city of Pittsburgh. Roosevelt was known and loved by many because of his joyful spirit, willingness and ability to help and teach others. Roosevelt departed this life on August 25, 2016. He leaves to grieve his passing three sons, Alonzo Anderson, Timothy Anderson, Kenneth Anderson; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, a sister, Annie Mae Hollins of Rochester, New York; brother, Luther B. Anderson of Rochester, New York; nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives.
