Anthony Hester

Anthony G. Hester, Sr was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on February 6, 1966, to the late Ernest and Elizabeth Hester. He was the middle child of four siblings.

He accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age at the Nazarene Baptist Church. He then began attending Pentecostal Temple, C.O.G.I.C. after several years of faithful attendance Anthony became a momber of the Mount Ararat Baptist Church.

Anthony attended and graduated from Wilkinsburg High aschool. He was very athletic in high school; however , his true love was for football. After graduation he attended Potomac State University, West Virginia.

After completing several semesters, he returned home to fulfill his dream to be an entrepreneur. Hester was focused and determined to be successful. After much planning he opened one of many stores in the Pittsburgh area. One of his more successful locations was in South Oakland, "Hester's Grocery Store". This store was frequented by many college stludents and neighbors. He enjoyed dealing with people from eery walk of life.

Anthony loved the Wilkinsburg community. He was the Head Football Coach for Wilkinsburg Athletic Association "Bees". Through his excellent coaching skills, he led the "Bees" to City Championships three years in a row. Coaching was just one of his special talents. He was also a mentor to many of the same children. Anthony was a veery compassionate and giving person. His contribution to the Wilkinsburg community will never be forgotten.

Anthony was an excellent father of eleven children; Anthony Jr., Treyvon, Torreek, Toneisha, Taylor, Taja, Tajour, Tecora, Mariyah, Marcus and Macen. He loved his children with all of his heart trying his best to spend many precious moments with each child.

In September 1999, Anthony met and fell in love with Mary Lester. After several years of friendship the two united in marriage on August 19, 2006. To thus union three children were born. The two were inseparable. Anthony never missed an opportunity to enjoy precious momoents with the love of his life They enjoyed church, traveling to the beach, fine dining, shopping, dancing, movies, football games and community functions. Most importantly, Anthony LOVED family outings and functions. He was truly a family man who cherished every opportunity to make you laugh.

On April 2, 013, Anthony responded to his Savior's call and departed this earthly body to be present with the Lord. He is now reunited with his mother, father, and brother, Eric Hester.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Hester, 11 Children; brother, Ernest Hester, Jr. (Pat); sister, Danielle Crump; mother-in-law, Josephine Lester; father-in-law, David Lester; step-mother, Jessie Hester; sister-in-law, Kelly Smith; favorite niece, Shadarah "Nicey Pooh", nieces, Aniya Ward, Amoni Ward, Kara Smith and Loletta Gilbert; nephews: Ernest Hester III, Niyre Floyd and Donte Smith; great niece, Markara Sheffield; great nephews: Dion Germany Jr., Jerel Austin; aunts: Cora Lee Howard and Willie Green; uncle Reerend Sylvetser Howard; a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Anthony will be sadly missed.
