Festus L. Weeks was born on October 9, 1922, in Faison, North Carolina to James E. and Josephine Weeks.  He was the youngest of their ten children.

“Doc”, as he was called by his family and those close to him because of his love for others and willingness to do for them.  He attended the Sampson  County School System until he left the family farm. Festus moved to Goldsboro with his older brother, Earl for whom he worked both at his fish market and later at Safety Cab Co., as a driver.

He relocated to Baltimore, MD and found employment at the McCormick Spice Company.  Festus met and married Corrine.  Together they raised their two daughters.  Festus moved his family to Pittsburgh in 1955.  He worked at Pittsburgh Coke and Chemical Company which later became Shenango and Hussey Metals Copper Mill, until retirement.

Festus’ greatest loves were family, cars (and lots of cars for he needed them for the many trips back to both Baltimore and North Carolina), and service to the Lord.  Attending church was always a part of his life.  He visited and became saved at Mt. Zion Temple Church under the pastorate of Elder P. W. Washington. His life was forever changed.  In the years that followed, he worshipped at the Shiloh Apostolic Church under leadership of the late Pastor Freeman M. Thomas.  Festus was a faithful member of El Bethel Temple Church under Pastor Curtis Lewis until the time of his death.

On April 26, 2016 Festus departed this earthly life for life eternal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine; parents; one son, Thomas; five sisters, Viola, Rosa Belle, Nancy Catherine, Gertrude and Eliza Jane; five brothers, Matthew, Johnny, Earl, James, and Ralph.

He leaves to cherish his memory daughters, Catherine Payne and Shirley Coleman (Lawrence); foster son, Leroy Fears; grandchildren, Andrea, Lamar, Crystal, Antoinette, Avita and Craig; and great-grandchildren Andrae, Jaimee, Jalen, Brennan, Malaila, Shyheem, and Kamila; and a host of other family members and friends.
