Peaceably, Elder William A. Moore passed from life temporal to life eternal on May 3, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his wife and loved ones.

William A. Moore was born July 21, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA, son of James and Natalie (Sandag) Moyer.  He was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System.  He joined the US Army at age 17 and was honorably discharged in 1962.

His vocation and passion was in the field of culinary arts.  He was employed as a Chef  with Carlow University Convent, the Southern Platter Restaurant, Webster Hall Hotel and the PPG Industries.

He was united in marriage to the late Audrey(Silas) Moore.  To this union there were 12 children.  

Elder Moore was united in marriage to his 2nd wife, Maxine Taylor Moore on March 14, 1992.

He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1969, and was called into the service of the Lord in 1972, while a member at the Miracle Church of God in Christ.  Later in his ministry they united with the Morning Side Church of God in Christ.

Elder Moore and Elder George Christopher founded the Bethel C.O.G.I.C. at the home of Elder Moore 7341 Race St., Homewood in 1997.  Approximately 18 months later, the church was blessed with a building and relocated to Grotto and Vassar St., East Liberty.  In 1998, Elder Moore was called to Pastor the First Galilee Baptist Church, Homewood and served faithfully for 16 years.  He resigned in August 2014.  In 2016, Elder Moore and his wife united with The First Church of God in Christ.

Elder Moore was preceded in death by his parents, James and Natalie Moyer; his children, Dana Matics, Terry Moore, Judy, Michael and Anthony Jackson.

Elder Moore leaves to cherish his memory and legacy his beloved wife, Maxine C. Moore; children, Denise Williams (John), William A. Moore II, Michael L. Jackson, Tiffy N. Moore of Greenville, SC, Grayland and Stephen Moore, Christopher Moore, Margaret M. Gramby, Min. Shawn Gramby (Libby) of Wheeling, WV; brothers-in-law, William J. Taylor (Jacqueline) and Terrence Taylor; sister-in-law, Devonne Taylor; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one church baby, Jasmine Simpson and many other spiritual children and a host of relatives and friends.

Elder Moore was a Husband, Father, Pastor, Man of God and Man of Peace.
