Obituary
Born on December 6, 1925, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Yvonne Rollins lived a long and meaningful life rooted in family, faith, service, and joy.
She passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at the age of 100, just weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday.
She was raised in Pittsburgh and attended Oakmont High School, growing up as one of eight siblings, born to Lucille and Samuel Johnson.
Family was always at the center of her life, shaping the warm, outgoing, and caring person she would remain throughout the years.
After leaving Pittsburgh, she moved to Washington, DC, where she married her husband, Frederick Rollins Sr. They were married in DC and later returned to Pittsburgh, where they built their life and raised their family.
She was a devoted mother to two children, Marla and Frederick, both of whom shared a close and meaningful bond with her.
After the passing of her husband, she lived for many years in Pittsburgh with Marla. Later in life, she began a new chapter living in the Virgin Islands with Freddie, where she was surrounded by care and love.
Her work centered on community and children, and she especially loved recalling the small, everyday stories, sharing what the children did day by day, often with laughter and pride.
She was known for her outgoing nature, easy laughter, and love of telling jokes. Friendly and approachable, she had a way of making people feel comfortable and welcome. Time spent with her was often filled with warmth, conversation, and genuine joy.
She was close to the Lord and attended church regularly. Her faith was lived out quietly through kindness, compassion, and the way she treated others.
She is survived by her two children, Marla and Frederick, her brother Charles and his wife Sharon, her sister Ellen and her husband Ralph Livsey, several grandchildren, and two great grandchildren along with a host of family and friends. Her life was long, well lived, and deeply rooted in love.
She will be loved and missed dearly by all who knew her.
