Willie Mae Young Obituary

After an extended illness, on March 13, 2020 Willie Mae Young, transitioned to heaven to be with our Lord.
Willie Mae was born in Rosa, Louisiana on May 24, 1930 to Sir Humphrey Jones and Nettie Jones (Butcher). As a youngster, her parents moved the family, which included her older brother, the late Lancaster, and her younger sister, the late Majester (Jessie) to Houston, Texas. In the 1940’s she moved with her mother to San Francisco, California, where later she would meet and marry Charles B. Young, Sr. From this union were born four children, Renee’ Michelle, Danielle Denise, Terhea Annette and Charles Barkley Young, II.
In 1963, Billye (as she was known to her family and friends), moved to Pittsburgh, PA and made it her home. If you had the opportunity to know her, she was kind, loving and beyond generous, especially to her children and grandchildren...and those who called her “NANA”. She loved the Lord. When she was still well, her night time devotional included reading her Bible, reading the Daily Bread and praying on her hands and knees. In that order! She never missed a night!
She was a long-time member of Macedonia Church of Pittsburgh where she enjoyed attending Sunday School and Worship services. Billye had a wide variety of hobbies, including reading and her favorite pastime playing BINGO. She was an amazing cook, who enjoyed family gatherings and cooking for and spoiling her grandchildren. Even though very strong- willed, people will tell you that she was kind-hearted, trustworthy and honest to a fault.

Preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, her daughter, Renee’ M. Young (2011), and Son Charles B. Young, II (2014); left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Danielle Hood (Jonas) of Yardley, PA, Terhea Young (Derrek Royster), Pittsburgh, PA, Sons, Leonard Bonner (Yolanda) and Eric Young , Pittsburgh, PA. Sister, Linda Wright (Andre’) of Temecula, CA. Grandchildren, Nicole Arnold, Charlotte, NC, Jason Young (Pearl), Dallas , TX, Marlin Hood, Fairfax, VA, Marquette Espy (Montell), Pittsburgh, PA, Benjamin McNutt, Dallas, TX, Aric, Darron, Cameron and Talon Young, Alex Danley, Pittsburgh, PA; and Quinsentina Lewis, Trisica, Charese and Charles B. Young, III, Fayetteville, NC.
In addition to her immediate family, she will be missed by her dear friend “Ms. Lil”, a 63like daughter Marianne Stetar, her Macedonia Caregiver, Ms. Mary Thompson, Elder Debra Martin, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many others.
