Wilbert Nathaniel Tolliver, Jr., affectionately known as "Bill", was born on September 26, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Betty and Wi;bert Nathaniel Tolliver, Sr.
Bill recieved his early education through the Penn Hills School District. Throughout his working years, he dedicated himself to service and hard work. He was employed at a local gasoline station and later at a car parts company, where he was known for his helpfulness and friendly demeanor. Eventually, Bill pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by starting his own cleaning and hauling business, serving his community with pride and determination.
It was during one of his hauling jobs at Vanguard Corporation that Bill met the love of his life, his companion and best friend, Carol Jean Griffey-Tolliver. Their union blossomed into more than 36 years of shared love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Bill was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved watching his favorite TV shows, such as Survivor, all of the courtroom series, and especially cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed traveling to visit family, hosting cookouts, and spending time with those closest to him.
On June 12, 2025, Bill peacefully departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Will Tolliver; daughter Stephanie Tolliver; sister Carrie James; stepson, Erick Griffey; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Tolliver.
Bill leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Jean Tolliver; his children: Marty McGinnis, Linda (Allen) Strothers, Gregory Tolliver, and Derrick (Tonnya) Tolliver; stepdaughters, Rochille Griffey and Carol Griffey; siblings: Elaine (Carrol) Younger, Ernest Tolliver, and Ethel Clark; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Bill will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering loyalty to family, and the warmth he brought into every room. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
