Walter Griffin Obituary

Walter Frank Griffin, Sr was born on January 23, 1950, the fifth son of seven children to the late Mr. Herbert Griffin and Sarah Griffin Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. "Walt" graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1968. He was employed with AG Mauro Company for more than 40 years until his retirement. Walt was united in marriage to Judith Ann Carter in 1978, a union that would last 43 years until his passing.

Walt's extraordinary service and exemplary leadership were demonstrated through his positions a little league coach, cub scout leader, and mentor. Walt loved jazz, fishing and golf. He delighted in the company of his family and socializing with friends, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.

A die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler fan, Walt (along with Judi) moved to South Carolina in 2014.Walt enjoyed annual family vacations, holidays, and took pleasure in playing the lottery.

On November 2, 2021, Walt departed this earthly life in Columbia, South Carolina. He is precede in death by his parents in death Herbert and Sarah Griffin, siblings Helen Ford James "Griff", Edward and Hortence Griffin.

Memories will be cherished by his wife , Judith Griffin of Columbia, SC; children Fatima Bey of Pittsburgh, PA; Sidney Patton(Tammy) of Pittsburgh, CA; Nicol Preston, of North Potomac, MD; and Walter Griffin II (Conetta) of Columbia, SC; siblings Herbert ,Jr and Robert "Bob" Griffin of Pittsburgh , PA; grandchildren Sydney and Robyn of Pittsburgh, CA; Amexes, Jayden, Walter,III,  Collin, Cara, and Josten all of Columbia , SC; and multitude of family and friends.
