Victoria “ Vicki” Lynn Taylor

Vicki was born on October 1, 1955, in Erie, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents John W. Taylor, Jr., Mary Parks-Taylor, and brother, John W. Taylor, III. Vicki transitioned on February 15, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

Vicki was a dedicated and loving mother to Miriam Benjamin (Rockledge, Florida), and Monet Taylor (Erie, Pennsylvania). Grandmother to Julius “Malik" Benjamin, Amarie Benjamin, (Florida), Amora Taylor (Erie), and Great Grandmother to Omarion “Moon” Smith. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Josephine Johnson (Erie), Sandra Taylor (Harvey Mattox) of Tuskegee, Alabama, Valerie Taylor (Erie), Monique Taylor (Stone Mountain, Georgia), Brent Taylor (Kathy) (Dallas, GA) and God-sister, Toni Farmer (Elmsford, New York). She leaves to mourn a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

Vicki’s dynamic personality provided her with a wealth of experiences which included a lifetime of civic and social involvement. Vicki, a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, also worked and attended Penn State University in State College, PA. Her life journey has provided her with a remarkable stream of career opportunities including employment as a personal assistant and companion to actress Genevieve Bujold. She worked and co-managed John W. Taylor Funeral Home in Erie, was a bartending manager at the Sunset Inn, and co-founder of Miss Vicki’s Tasty Treats Catering Company. For over 20 years, she was the house executive and personal manager for Dr. Michael Victor and Family, of whom she was beloved and endeared.

Following in her father’s footsteps, politics was extremely important to her. She was a member of the Erie County Republican Women’s Council and ran for public office on the Erie County Council seat although she did not win the election, she remained committed to civic engagement, and voting rights and maintained a strong commitment to the community in her support of fellow citizens in WARD 4. In addition, she served as a former board member of the Black Achievers at the YMCA. She traveled extensively around the world and especially liked the Caribbean Islands. Vicki an avid lover and collector of pearls also believed in the natural spiritual power of crystals. As a gourmet cook, she enjoyed being a food stylist and developed a personal passion for cooking vegan meals for Ms. Judy Alstadt. Vicki was a tough cookie with a soft heart and a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
