Troy D. Ford was born on January 13, 1972, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the beloved son of Georgianna Brown Smith and Marlin Ford (Carolyn). He was a proud graduate of Penn Hills High School and continued his education at Slippery Rock University, where he became a committed member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Troy had a deep love for sports, particularly softball, and one of his greatest joys was coaching his daughter, Madison. His passion for the game was matched only by the pride he felt in mentoring young athletes and encouraging them to be their best. Troy’s presence on and off the field was filled with laughter, enthusiasm, and unwavering support. To know Troy was to know kindness, generosity, and an infectious joy for life. He never met a stranger, and his warm personality made everyone feel welcome. His beautiful smile and booming laughter could light up any room, and his willingness to help others was one of his defining qualities. Whether it was offering a helping hand, sharing a word of encouragement, or simply being a loyal friend, Troy embodied the true spirit of compassion. He departed this life on February 11, 2025, at the age of 53. Troy was a devoted son, a loving husband, a dedicated father, and a cherished friend to many. Troy was preceded in death by his stepfather, LeRoy Smith, his maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Brown, his paternal grandparents, Edward “Jack” and Pearl Owens, and his favorite uncle, Al Owens. He leaves behind his wife, Andrea Pail Ford, and his beloved daughter, Madison, whom he adored beyond measure. He is also survived by his step-brothers, Paul Sanford, Jaison Smith, and LeRoy Smith, step-sisters, Renada, Carla, and Rovella Smith, his dear aunt, Terry Owens, and his cousin, James Owens. Though Troy is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for family and friends will never be forgotten.
