Tony Arthur Barnett was born on August 7, 1959. On September 28, 2021, his parents, Jeff and Beulah Barnett welcomed him into heaven to be with them and the Lord. Tony was 62 years of age. He was the youngest of five children. A lifelong resident of Homewood, Tony resided in the family home until an untimely illness placed him in the Canterbury Nursing facility where he resided for the past five years.
Tony was an avid lover of life, a music aficionado, he loved all genres of music. He was often the resident family DJ and found comfort and solace in listening to rock, funk, and R&B. He loved to talk about “old school” music and liked to educate any “pupils” who were willing to learn. He always celebrated with “School’s Out for the Summer,” by Alice Cooper during school break. In addition to music, Tony loved Pepsi, snacks and all foods called, SOUL! He could often be found relaxing watching his favorite reruns, sports, action-packed movies, or engaging in a jam session.
A quiet thoughtful man, he prided himself on minding his own business but was always able to provide keen insight into situations. He was renowned, however, for his sense of humor, funny jokes, and throwback anecdotes to the ’60s and ’70s. He will be forever fondly remembered for his kindness, warm personality, and infectious smile.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Walter Walker, Beulah Whatley, and Gloria Stevenson. Loved ones that will miss Tony until they meet again are his brother, Jeffrey Barnett, (Lorraine), and nieces, Stefanie Smith and Monica Stevenson. There is a host of other relatives and family friends who will also cherish his memory and forever remember his ability to make them laugh
