Thomas Hale Reynolds Jr

Thomas Hale Reynolds Jr., age 56, of Pittsburgh, passed away on April 28, 2025. Born on April 23, 1969, Thomas, affectionately known as “Tommy” was a beloved and exceptionally gifted artist whose visionary talent left a lasting mark on the Pittsburgh arts community. Tommy began drawing at the early age of five, with some of his first works being of dinosaurs. His early passion blossomed into a lifelong journey of creativity and self-expression. His body of work included comic books, scenic art, portraiture, makeup design, and album covers, all of which showcased his distinctive style and creative spirit. Not only was Tommy a featured artist in both Marvel and DC Comics, where his contributions reflected his signature style and imagination on a national stage but he also made a lasting contribution to The Legacy Arts Project, where he designed the logos for two of their most iconic events—Keepers of The Flame and Dance Africa Pittsburgh—designs that are still proudly used today. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Hale Reynolds Sr. and Betty Patricia Reynolds. Thomas is survived by his brother, Uriel R. Thompson (Romy); his sister, Patricia M. Reynolds Ford (John); nieces and nephews, Todd Speller Jr. (Rolizia), Ashley Ford, Selena Ford, Salem Ford, and Patrick Culliton; and great-nephew, Noa Speller. He also leaves behind a multitude of devoted family members and cherished friends who will forever honor his memory and legacy. Tommy loved spending time with his family—whether it was gathering for coffee or simply being in each other’s company. He found joy in teaching his nieces and nephews the artistic skills he had honed over a lifetime. His creativity and presence left a lasting impact, and his memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.
