Thomas Lee Gravely

 Thomas L. Gravely of Pittsburgh, PA, departed this life for eternity unexpectedly on November 21, 2024, at the age of 62. Born on May 31, 1962, in Welch, WV, to the late Henry Gravely and Helen Taylor, Tommy, as he was affectionately known, grew up in New Haven, where he was educated in the New Haven Public School District. Throughout his high school years, Tommy excelled in multiple sports, a testament to his competitive nature and love for physical activity. Tommy later made Pittsburgh his home, where he became an integral part of the community. Known for his hard work and dedication, he spent many years employed at UPMC and later at Carnegie Mellon University. His colleagues remember him fondly as a reliable and well-loved member of the workforce. Though Tommy's life in Pittsburgh was full of work and responsibilities, his heart was always tied to the things that brought him joy—his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, a passion he carried with pride. He was a devoted collector of Steelers jerseys, and his love for Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers, was known to all who knew him. Outside of sports, Tommy enjoyed cooking and riding his motorcycle, hobbies that brought him peace and satisfaction. The family was paramount to Tommy. He treasured every moment spent with his loved ones, always putting them first. He shared a special bond with his daughter, Kalinda, and was eagerly looking forward to building a deeper connection as both a father and "Pop Pop." Tommy’s furbaby, Bounty, was another source of joy in his life, and he devoted much of his time to doting on his loyal companion. Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Henry Gravely; mother, Helen Taylor; sisters Elizabeth Taylor and Deborah Jeffcoat; and brother Robert Taylor. He leaves behind his sisters Gwen “Breezy” Gilbert, Henrietta Adams, and Rita Johnson; and brother Raymond (Christine) Taylor. He shared a deep, loving connection with his nephew William Taylor, and his dear friend Bro Loran Ingram. Tommy is also remembered by a host of extended family and friends, each of whom were touched by his kindness, humor, and unwavering loyalty. Tommy will be remembered most for his immense love for his family and friends, his zest for life, and his passion for sports and music. While he could be stubborn sometimes, his joyful spirit and willingness to help others will be what those who knew him will remember most. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
