Sarah Lillian Taylor (Everett) was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Marshall L. Everett, Jr, and Alice High (both preceded in death). She was raised in the Homewood area with her younger brother William Everett, affectionately known as “Cool Bill.”
Sarah was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System and was blessed with 5 children only proceeded in death by her firstborn, Jeffrey W. Everett, Hakeem Muhammad, Victoria Young, Denise Jones (all of Pittsburgh), and her youngest April Y. Everett Cunningham (Darrell) of Fort Lauderdale, Fl.
Sarah’s young life was spent raising her 5 children and all their friends as a single mom, with the help of her Father aka “Gramps” (in the big house at Race/Lang). She found joy in being a caregiver and then returned to the nursing profession, as a Home Healthcare Aide at Collins Nursing Home. She was an active servant in her church, Homewood AME Zion as a member of the Annie L. Anderson Missionary Society #1, The Gospel Choir, and the C.H. Foggie Allegheny Conference Choir.
“Sarah Smile”….a song Jeff always sang to her came true, she found love again and was joined in Holy Matrimony on July 8, 1995, to Zack Taylor. She was blessed with a stepdaughter Gwyndola Griff and additional grandchildren Robert Griff, Regina Miller, Rochelle Griff, and Rhonda Griff, all of Ohio.
