Rufus Mason, Jr.

Rufus Mason was born in Gastonia, North Carolina on January 3, 1932. He was the son of the late Rufus Mason Sr. and Melva Mason. Rufus worked in railroad and construction until he retired. He earned his name “Raisin Jack” because he loved booze and partying. Once he gave up drinking and partying, he developed a passion for playing the harmonica and watching cowboy movies in his recliner. The Lord took him home on January 7, 2023, at 3:13 am on the birthday of his great-niece Stephanie Jackson. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lina Bell Mason and Pearl Jackson. He is survived by his last remaining sister, Marie Vaughn who currently resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a good friend Stacy Gray.
