Ronald James Whittle was born June 15, 1951 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Brady whittle and Mary Lee Fowler Whittle. He was a native of the Manchester/Northside area, then he moved to the East End of Pittsburgh. Ronald went home to be with the Lord March 1, 2023. Ronald was a Born Again Christian. He was a member and attended Christian Temple Church in the Friendship area. In later years, he was a member and attended The House of Gospel Church (East Hills area) until his health declined. Ronald (Known as Ronnie and Ron by his family and friends) was educated in the Pittsburgh Public Are School System. He was a graduate of David B. Oliver High School. He was a member of the Oliver Bears High School Football team. Throughout his life, he wasto recite the Oliver high school, Alma Mater. “hail to the Oliver,” When the conversation would turn to question, what school we went to? He would say “Hail to the Oliver” then he would recite the Alma Mater word for word. He continued his formal education at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois. He majored in mathematics. Ronald served his country, he was an airman in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam war. He had a strong work ethic. He was a paper boy. He worked for the Browning-Ferris Sanitation Company with his dad. He worked at AT&T as a overseas operator. He drove school buses for the Pittsburgh Public schools. Ron worked for the Volkswagen Company in new Stanton PA when the factory closed completed driving school and earned his CDL license, and became an “Over the Road” truck driver in the US and Canada for 26 years. J.B. Hunt was one of the companies he worked for. He changed his title from “Over the Road” Truck Driver to “Local Truck Driver,” To spend more time with his family. He was a truck driver for Robert Keppel trucking, and delivered medical supplies to West Virginia at night and worked during the day at Three Rivers Center for Independent Living (TRCIL), as a janitor. He also was a jitney driver. Ron lived in Utah and California as well. He was adventurous. He never met a stranger. He was a people person and a free spirit. He loved his family and enjoyed meeting new people and family members that he did not know. He was a friendly person , an independent who spoke his mind. His favorite hymn was My Soul is Anchored, by Douglas Miller. He liked Anita Baker and David Pearson. He like to watch westerns, play, and watch basketball and football. He likes to dance and listen to music. He enjoyed good food, and loved sweet potato and pecan pie. Also Spice and Carrot Cake. Ronald was united to his beloved Sandra Denise for 30 years and enjoyed a loving relationship. He was a devoted dad to Kristian Talbert-Whittle, and stepfather two Loren Ingram from a former marriage. He went to all of Kristaun’s Gymnastic trainings and football games, and when home, his baseball games and practices. He enjoyed his life and was as skilled navigator of logistics. And his specialty. Ronald was proceeded in death by his parents, Brady Whittle and Mary Lee Whittle , his brother-in-law, Alvin Mitchell, sister Diane Zigler, niece and nephew Ebony Whittle, Glenn Whittle Jr., niece Lydia Mitchell.
