Robert "Lindsay" Hargrove Obituary

Robert Lindsay Hargrove, age 72, of Murrysville, PA departed this life on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 6:30 a.m. at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 5, 1951, in Monongahela, PA. and was raised in the Mon Valley by his parents, the late McKinley and Stellena Hargrove.

On July 23, 2013, he was married to Marilyn Davidson who survives. He has three stepchildren: Joseph, Nicole, and Chad Bosley. Also surviving are one daughter, Stellena Hargrove, and three grandchildren, Yasmine, Shakira and Micah Hargrove, all of Pittsburgh, PA. He has three sisters Christine King, Gwen Berger, and Cyd Berger. He is also survived by Robert Chambers, his friend and companion since college.

Robert attended school K-12 in West Newton, PA and was a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Social Work.

He was employed by Allegheny County as a social worker, specializing in prisons and recovery programs. He was also employed in management within the entertainment industry, including as the stage manager at the Stanley Theater. More recently, he worked at Heinz Hall and at the Northside Medical Center as a peer specialist in substance disorders.

An active member and past Grand Master of Hiram Grand Lodge and Grand Patron of Omega Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, he has also served as director of the prison ministry at Allegheny Center Alliance Church where his work and community service was awarded the Jefferson Award. He was a member of the recovery community for many years.

Lindsay was an avid sports fan and often spoke to twelve step meetings at countless venues in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. He always made time to read his Bible and constantly carried a black sharpie for taking notes as ideas occurred. In 2023, with his wife, Lindsay published a book of meditations entitled, “What’s God Got To Do With It?...Everything.”

He will be greatly missed for his willingness to help, his clever conversation, and his Christian concern for others.
