Robert D. Snyder, affectionately known as Bob or Bobby was born on March 7, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bobby went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Bobby was the youngest of three children, to the late George E. Snyder and Madonia I. Snyder.
As a child Bobby attended Bethesda Presbyterian Church where his love for the Lord first grew. Bobby received his education in the Pittsburgh Public Schools, attending Homewood Elementary School and Westinghouse Junior and Senior High School. He graduated in June 1961. He continued his education at Central State University in Wilberforce, OH and majored in Physical Education. Bobby had a tenure of 28 years as the Director of the YMCA here in Pittsburgh, but also in Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Chicago. Bobby retired from the YMCA in 2001 and enjoyed several pastimes like gardening in his yard. He also developed a love for trains as a young boy and continued this passion as an adult by building model railroads. Bobby was also a lover of jazz music and collected a wide variety of jazz albums.
Bobby was preceded in death by his brother William Snyder and sister Joanne Jamison.
Those left to celebrate Bobby’s life and cherish his memory include his loving wife Mildred, two sons, Ryan and Ronald Snyder from a previous marriage, along with a brother-in-law Theodore Jamieson II and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
