Robert Lee Holt, Jr., passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of eighty-one in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born on November 30, 1944, in Bluefield, West Virginia. Robert was a quiet yet caring son, brother, and uncle who deeply valued his family.
Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1971, including service in Vietnam. During his wartime service, he was wounded in combat and awarded the Purple Heart, along with the Good Conduct Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Robert often spoke with gratitude and pride about his time as a Marine.
Robert enjoyed being surrounded by family and valued the support and unity they shared. Although he was often reserved, he was always willing to listen and lend a helping hand whenever needed.
Robert is survived by his brother, George Woody (Rita Woody); nieces Remel Elizabeth Sloan, Denise Renee Sloan, Nicole Winzer, and Shoshanna Woody; nephews Joseph La’Mar Page (Kimberly Page), Jason Toler, and Christopher Toler.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Park King; stepfather, Leroy King; sister, Esther R. Blaney-Sloan; and brother, Calvin Samuel Toler.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Robert.
Robert’s kindness, generosity, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him. His life reflected sacrifice, loyalty, and the enduring power of unconditional love.
