It is with deep sadness that we gather today to remember and honor the life of Robert "Bobby" Edward Booker III, who departed this life on August 7, 2025, at the age of 76.
Bobby was born on June 16, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Robert and Carrie Booker. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brough warmth and light to all who knew him.
A proud graduate of George Westinghouse High School's Class of 1967, Bobby answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. As a disabled veteran, his dedication to his country was steadfast and unwavering. After his service, Bobby pursued higher education, earning a degree in Accounting from Duff's Business Institute. While he excelled in his accounting career, he discovered his true calling in service to others, working for many years as a drug and alcohol outreach worker. In this role, he touched countless lives, offering guidance, hope, and compassion to families and individuals in need.
In 1996, Bobby met the love of his life, Raenell, who would become his lifelong pinochle partner. The two were married the following year in their beloved hometown of Pittsburgh. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Bobby's retirement years were spent enjoying the simple pleasures of life spending time with friends and family, especially at the senior center where he loved playing chess and cards. He was an avid fan of playing pinochle, spades, and poker and could often be found at the table, competing with joy and passion. A true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Bobby proudly wore his Steelers gear year-round, showing his unrelenting support for his team. Aside from leisure, Bobby was a faithful member of Petra International Ministries, attending Church on Sundays and also participating in various ministries and faith-based missions as needed.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Jr and Carrie Booker; his brother, Jesse Booker; and his son Robert "Bebe" Booker. He is survived by his loving wife, Raenell; brothers, Shane and Robbie; sister, Robin; children, Marc (Laura), Unellda, Preston (Jaymie), Channell, Darius, Ashanti', and daughter in-law Danya; fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Bobby's legacy of kindness, generosity, and community service will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of calling him family and friend.
