Richard Morris Obituary

R. Malik Morris was born at West Penn Hospital to the proud parents, Richard and Janice Morris, on May 6, 1970. Malik suddenly passed away of February 28, 2023, at the age of 52. Malik was raised in the Homewood-Brushton Community of Pittsburgh, Pa. He was a proud alumnus of George Westinghouse High School, where he graduated salutatorian; second in his class. he then attended Norfolk State University, in Norfolk, Virginia. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Malik graduated from his Alma Mater, with Summa Cum Laude honors.

Malik married in holy matrimony, his childhood friend and love of his life Janice Rivers on July 7, 2001.

Malik's desire to make a difference in his community was shown through his work. He love his people and was passionate about the future of our children. He began working as a youth himself, delivering the newspaper to the doorstep of his future wife and their neighbors. he was able to continue manifesting change for the greater good while employed by the city of Pittsburgh as Program Coordinator for the Community Development Block Grants division. He was able to implement job training and employment workshops to his community and much more. Malik poured love and hope into our incarcerated youth while working for Summit Academy. He encouraged health, wellness and fun while maintaining the Mellon Park Tennis Center or "The Tennis Bubble".

Malik leaves his legacy to his wife of 30 years, Janice Morris of Pittsburgh, PA; children, David Rivers, Malika Morris, Justin Morris and Anon Morris all of Pittsburgh, PA; mother, Janice Webb Morris of Pittsburgh, PA; father Richard L. Morris "Toni" of Pittsburgh, PA; brother Kahlil (Shakira) Morris of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Khalilah Brandon of Pittsburgh, PA; aunts, Stephanie Morris of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Joyce Webb of Atlanta, GA; uncles, Barry (Kim) Morris of Columbus, Ohio, James (Amira) Webb of Atlanta, GA, and Vernon (Ilona) Webb of Royersford, PA; Grandchildren: Chase Rivers, Kree Rivers, and Cookie the family dog. Malik was deeply loved by his Dallas Ave. Crew of Homewood, Brushton and a host of special friends, family and loved ones!

Malik is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather David Morris; paternal grandmother, Ruth Morris; paternal uncle, Kurt Morris; maternal grandmother, Alma Webb Lee; mother and father-in-law, Janice and John Rivers; and great grandmother, Carrie Harris.

Malik loved his wife and his children dearly. There was nothing he wouldn't do for them. He loved traveling and enjoying precious moments at the beach. He loved reading the newspaper and watching football. He was a proud Steelers season ticket holder,. he loved homemade lasagna, lemon pound cake, lemon flavored Italian Icey's, peanut butter crackers, and reminiscing about the good old days of the 1980's and 1990's where he DJ'd parties as "MC LikSki". He legacy will always be remembered and cherished.
