On December 4, 1932 Ralph Lloyd Coprich fondly known to many as “Pops” was born to the late Mitchel Porter Corprich and Clara “Hill” in Fayette County, Alabama. Ralph was one of six children Gladys Nance, Eldrich Coprich, Wilma Burnley, Edna Mae Porter, and Dorothy Woods who all preceded him home.
Ralph accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. Education and the love of Christ was the core foundation of his upbringing. After graduating from Fayette County School System (Pops) attended Alabama A&M where he received a BS degree in Agricultural Education and with a minor in Science in 1957. In the interim of completing college Ralph served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 receiving an honorable discharge. He went home to marry his childhood sweetheart and life partner of 63 years Tommie Adele McCollum. They moved to Cleveland, Ohio. He accepted a job at the Cleveland Post Office between 1957-1959. In 1958 they were blessed with their only child a daughter Vickie. Who in later years became an award winning educator in Penn Hills, Pa. Ralph continued his Postal Service career for the next 43 years in Pittsburgh, Pa. An award winning employee Ralph received four Notable Performance Certificates. As a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and the Prince Hall Masons he served in the membership as a community worker. He also served as a volunteer worker for the Big Brother Program of Pittsburgh along with volunteering at Job Corps. Adding to this list is his part-time work as a substitute teacher in the Pittsburgh Public School System as well as Sears and Roebucks for fourteen years while still maintaining a full position with the United States Postal System. Wise in his choices and loving in his care of his family Pops was known by many as a man of substance.
He leaves to remember and cherish his legacy his beloved wife Tommie Adele known as “Ge”, his beloved daughter Vickie, his granddaughter Shehan, his great grandson Justen Montez, and also his heavenly grandson Justen Ray. Pops leaves a sister-in-law Shelvy Jean of California. A host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. We Love you Pops.
