Patricia M. Livingston was the third of six children born on
February 11, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the
daughter of Dewey and Lillie Ruth Livingston.
She was born with a severe deformity of her nasal cavity—something
that likely could be treated more easily today. At the time, however,
her severe asthma was the more pressing concern. Her condition
made her speech difficult to understand, which only added to the
challenges of growing up in a large household, surrounded by both
immediate and extended family, and dealing with school as well.
Even with these difficulties, her parents gave her and her siblings a
wonderful childhood—filled with school, church activities, Sunday
school, and family car trips down south.
It believed Patricia was much smarter than people gave her credit
for. The letters she wrote to her sister was clear and well thought out.
When she truly wanted something, she found a way to make herself
understood. Most of the time, though, she simply chose not to push
herself to communicate.
Not long ago, her sister, Jackie ask Patricia if she remembered frying
homemade donuts for everyone when we were young. Her big smile
and nodding head told the whole story without the need for words.
She was loved, adored and appreciated by her family especially her
parents.
On May 4, 2026, Patricia departed this life. She was preceded in
death her parents, Dewey Jr., Henry M., David and Cynthia
Livingston.
She leaves cherished memories to sister, Jackie (Bertram) LivingstonGardner; and host of nieces, cousins, other family and friends.
