Patricia Ann (Bender) English

Patricia Ann English passed away in Tallahassee Florida on May 19, 2025. She was born on February 20, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and raised by the late Johnson and Ann Morant. Educated in the Pittsburgh Public school system where she graduated from Fifth Avenue High school in 1958. She then graduated from Cheyney State College in 1962 with a BA in education. She utilized her skills and education by maintaining a career as a teacher of English, social studies and eventually becoming the director of Student Activities at Brashear High School. Later, on October 12, 1968, she married the late Samuel Preston English who during their 44 years of marriage raised two children. Son, Preston Alan English and daughter, Ann-Michelle English. Her love for community outreach, education and sisterhood led her to pledge and become initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated Delta Iota Chapter while attending Cheyney in 1960. She was also a member of Alpha Alpha Omega and became a Pearl Soror while belonging to Delta Kappa Omega Chapter following her move to Florida in 2024. A member of Second Baptist Church in Homestead for decades, where she served as an usher and a missionary. She had a love for entertaining, cooking and serving others through hosting parties and when not hosting, attending and dancing at other parties and events. Survived by her children Preston Alan English and Ann-Michelle English, five grandchildren, Julius Guyton Jr, Jade Inara English, Mario Aeneas English Samuel Preston English, and Olivia Ann English, and one great grandson Oakley Jett Guyton. Along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, other relatives and friends.
