Patricia Caroline Ellis

Patricia Caroline Ellis, 70, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, PA with family by her side. Patty was born on September 29, 1954, in Uniontown, PA. She was the seventh of 11 children born to Helen (Selby) Ellis and Oliver Ellis, Sr. Patty was christened at the family’s church, St. Paul AME where she worshiped until she was a young adult. Patty would later be baptized at Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended Uniontown Senior High School, graduating class of 1974. Patty went on to attend The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and she would later find her calling as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Patty spread joy to her colleagues and clients for several decades as a dedicated CNA at various healthcare facilities and private homes in Pittsburgh. She demonstrated a genuine compassion for people and pets throughout her lifetime. Patty welcomed several cats and dogs into her home including Smoke, Midnight and Starlight. Patty was fond of watching movies and multiple TV series.

While she enjoyed movies, laughter and good conversation, puzzles and her pets, Patty cherished her family. Her parents, aunts and uncles, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins all benefited from her loving presence, a kind word, warm embrace, act of service or thoughtful gift. She is survived by her precious cat Starlight, her nine brothers and sisters, Olivia F. Mackey of Pittsburgh, PA, Oliver D. Ellis (Tonya) of Pittsburgh, PA, Nancy L. Bowman (Monty) of Dayton, OH, Harry C. Ellis (Christal) of Clairton, PA, Haroline E.E. Meade of Connellsville, PA, Dorothy J. Ellis of Uniontown, PA, Howard John Ellis (Debra) of Livingston, TN, Harvey K. Ellis (Mary) of Hollywood, CA, and Dale L. Ellis (Rosalyn) of Cincinnati, OH; aunt Jessica S. Martin of Uniontown, PA; godsons, Richard D. Grooms III, Dana Curry and Kelshaun Kitchen, goddaughter Miranda Ellis-Lees; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Oliver Ellis, Sr. and sister Lucy L. Kitchen.
