Patricia A. Allen (Rouse), affectionately known as Pat, was born on September 4, 1953, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Rachel and Randolph Rouse. She departed this life on January 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and dedication. Patricia spent her early years in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, attending Fifth Avenue High School for ninth grade. Her family later moved to the Northside, where she graduated from Perry High School in 1971. She pursued various accounting and finance courses post-graduation, honing skills that would define her professional career. Pat began her career at Magee Women's Hospital and later joined Mellon Bank, where she worked for more than a decade. Her career culminated with over 30 years at the Allegheny County Housing Authority, where she served as a finance specialist in the Section 8 department. Known for her unwavering advocacy, Patricia also served as a union steward, passionately fighting to protect employees' rights, benefits, and, in some cases, their employment. Her sharp wit and skill as a wordsmith made her a formidable advocate in the workplace. In 1983, Patricia met the love of her life, Eugene Allen, fondly known as Sabb or "Sabbu" by Patricia. The two married and together co-parented stepsons Vaughn and Marcus Allen, building a loving and supportive family. Patricia had a deep appreciation for old-school R&B music and was known for her encyclopedic knowledge of hit songs from the late 1960s and 1970s. She could identify artists, track their careers, and recount their influence on music history. An avid reader and follower of politics and global events, Patricia was always well-informed and engaged with the world around her. Patricia also had a flair for style and design. She loved decorating and redecorating her home, frequently changing color schemes and themes. A self-proclaimed fashionista, she had an eye for clothing, shoes, jewelry, and coats. Shopping brought her immense joy, and her impeccable taste was evident to all who knew her. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Randolph and Rachel Rouse, and her brother, Ronald Rouse. She leaves behind a devoted husband, Eugene Allen; loving sisters, Saundra Chambers (Gary), Margaret Rouse, and Karen Lindsey; cherished nieces and nephew, Cherylynne Rouse, Brandon Rouse-Butler, Mikala Lindsey, and Chayce Lindsey; and beloved great-nieces and nephews, Amber, Alexis, Kenny Rouse, Harlym Lindsey, and Brayden Butler. Patricia also leaves two great-great-nephews, as well as a host of extended family and friends who will forever treasure her memory. Patricia's vibrant personality, unwavering dedication to her family, and passion for life will remain an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
