Pastor James Charles Hill, Sr. was a devoted and incredible husband, father, grandfather, who loved his family with all of his heart, and leaves an unforgettable legacy.
On May 20, 1937, James was born in Decatur, Alabama to the late Charlie Hill and Sarah Hill.
James worked for thirty-two years as a crew leader at the former Equitable Gas Company, from which he retired to give full-time devotion to his Pastoral calling. His passion and purpose in ministry led him to serve many with love, compassion and generosity. As a true student of the Bible and disciple of Christ, he was committed to his assignment to boldly preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a great man of Faith, who derived great joy from telling others about the redeeming power of God’s love.
On October 4, 1975, James was united in holy matrimony to Jacqueline Floyd (Hill). There is a total of (4) surviving children and (1) deceased.
A natural intellect, teacher and seeker of knowledge, he was an avid reader who enjoyed learning about a wide range of topics and possessed an admirable ability to comprehend highly complex information. He loved music, enjoyed singing and making others laugh.
In the comfort of his home and with his daughter (Jeanean) by his bedside, James peacefully transitioned from life on earth to his eternal home in Heaven on November 20, 2024, at 7:41a.m. After living a bountiful life of eighty-seven years, he has been welcomed into Heaven and has finally heard, “Well done thy good and faithful servant”. He is now fully healed and will forever be missed.
