Orris Barbara Brown

Orris Barbara Brown was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose legacy is one of quiet strength and love. She was born on October 29, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Samuel G. Thompson and Carrie Sumpter. A graduate of high school, Orris pursued her passion for helping others by attending nursing school, later serving as an LPN at St. Francis Hospital in the Lawrenceville area of Pittsburgh. Widowed since 1984, Orris was married twice and blessed with eight children. She is survived by her children Jacqueline Sparrow, Tracy Harris, and Douglas Sparrow, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry her memory forward. Orris had a talent for crocheting and sewing, crafting beautiful pieces with care. She lovingly made gowns for her daughters’ school events, reflecting her creativity and dedication as a mother. Known for her soft-spoken demeanor, Orris was a nurturing figure not only to her own children but also to their friends, embracing them as her own. In her later years, as dementia took hold, Orris found comfort in the care of her family. Though she preferred the peace of home and quiet moments, her gentle spirit and the warmth she shared with those around her will remain cherished by all who knew her. Sadly, Orris departed this life on November 18, 2024. She will be greatly missed.
