Omar Deen Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Pastor Omar K. Deen, who departed this life on December 30, 2025, at the age of 78.

Omar was born on February 13, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Maneera Deen and Ibrahim Deen. He was deeply devoted to the Lord and was well known for studying the Word, witnessing, and participating in cell meetings. During the summer months, he could often be found by the river, Bible in hand, reading scripture. His faith, love for people, and joyful spirit were evident to all who knew him.

Omar enjoyed playing pool, spending time in his game room listening to gospel recordings, cooking, and sharing stories that kept everyone laughing. His warmth, dedication to God, and sense of humor will be truly missed.

He received his high school diploma from Westinghouse High School in 1966 and later enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served as an Air Policeman. In 1967, he married Ascenith Jones, and together they raised four children: Carla, Erik, Aaron, and Kevin.

Omar worked as a mailman before becoming one of the first Black men to join Insulators Union Local #2, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring in the early 2000s.

Omar is survived by his loving wife, Ascenith Deen; his sister, Rasheeda Deen; his children, Carla Marshall, Erik Deen, Aaron Deen, and Kevin Deen; his grandchildren, Mia Marshall, Alicia Marshall, Jason Marshall, Haadiyah Deen, Eliana Deen, and Dayausha Deen; and his great-grandson, Jasir Marshall.

His legacy of faith, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
