On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Norman W. Hill Jr. was called home to the Lord at the age of 57. Affectionately known as Cy, he was born on September 29, 1968, at Wilkinsburg Hospital to Norman and Sharon Hill. In 1977, at the age of 9, the Hill family moved to Firethorn Drive, a place that would forever remain at the heart of who he was. Norman carried the proud memories and spirit of that street with him everywhere he went. To know Norman was to hear about Firethorn—it wasn’t just where he grew up, it was part of his identity.
Cy was raised alongside his three siblings, Caprice, Makeem (Chunky), and Monique Hill, in a home filled with love, laughter, and the foundation that shaped the man so many came to know and cherish. In 1986, Norman graduated from Gateway Senior High School and continued his journey at Temple University, where he further developed the charisma and confidence that would define his presence.
Soon after, he made his way to Maryland, where he married Shoshauna Hill (McCoy). Although the union did not last, they were blessed with their two girls, Ijjae and Nari Hill. Above all, Norman was the best Girl Dad in the world. His two daughters were the greatest joy and pride of his life. He also built a remarkable career in the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore area as a server and bartender. With his unmistakable personality, quick wit, and infectious energy, he turned ordinary moments into unforgettable ones. Life, for Norman, was always about the journey.
Cy was a devoted Steelers fan through and through, a reflection of his loyalty, passion, and love for where he came from. He also had a deep love for old-school music, long drives in White Lightning, and the simple joy of being in motion—windows down, music up, embracing the road ahead. Norman shared meaningful relationships with his niece (Kyden), nephews (Darius, Malik, Brayden, and Kayden), and devoted partner, Samantha Lewis, along with a wide circle of friends who became family.
Norman was preceded in death by his father, Norman Willis Hill, Sr. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his mother; his daughters; siblings; his partner; his niece and nephews; and countless friends who will carry his memory forward.
Norman lived life boldly and unapologetically. As he would say, “Nobody knocks me off my square.” His voice, his humor, and his spirit will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him. Though his journey has taken him beyond this road, his presence remains—felt in every song, every laugh, and every mile traveled.
Let it breathe!
