Norman Andrews, Jr. Obituary

Norman Andrews, Jr. was born on June 22, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He was the son of the late Norman Andrews Sr. and Berna Mae Andrews and the oldest of eight siblings, Vivian Verse (deceased), George Andrews of Oakland, CA, Florence Andrews of Pittsburgh, Curtis Andrews (deceased), Williams Andrews (deceased) Edward Andrews (deceased) Linda Andrews of Pittsburgh, PA.

“Buddy” as he was affectionately known was educated in Pittsburgh Public School system.  Shortly after receiving his education Norman enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.  After completing his tour he was honorably discharged.

Norman met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Mae Shaw and together they wrote the world’s greatest love story for more than 70 years.  This unity of love bore three beautiful children, Victoria, Norman Andrew III, and Gregory.

Norman was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A man of great integrity and full of wisdom. His words were both inspirational and encouraging to everyone who listened. His favorite saying was, “An ounce of prevention is a pound of cure.”

Norman lived by example. He was employed for many years at Drakes Bakery and then accepted a position at Brauns Bakery where he retired.   He was a responsible husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  His life and character exemplified the true definition of a family man.  He was an impeccable dresser and could easily have received the Mr. GQ Man of the year award.  Norman was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years.

On November 17, 2019, Norman departed this life for life eternal.  He leaves cherished and wonderful memories to his children, Victoria Marie Andrews, Norman Andrews III and Gregory Phillip Andrews all of Pittsburgh, PA; three grandchildren, Walter “Mossie” Andrews (Lakesia),  Shayla  Andrews, and Alycia Andrews all of Pittsburgh, PA; seven great-grandchildren, Shaunequa, Jalen, Chantia, Tre’, London, Keirra, and Alphonso; and host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

“One last Talley Ho from your Main Man Mossie.”
