On Monday afternoon, at 1:05 p.m., December 11th, 2023. Mildred Johnson peacefully departed this earthly life to be with the Lord. She was the youngest of four children and was affectionately known as Pee Wee.
Mildred was born on September 19th, 1851 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to her late parents, Alvin Richard Thornley and Mildred Thornley. She was also preceded in death by her husband Roger L. Johnson; Sister Marcella Ahbez and Brother Herman Wilson.
Mildred was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School District. She also attended the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy, where she enhanced her beautician skills. In her quiet time, she enjoyed painting, drawing, crocheting, arts and crafts. She enjoyed helping people and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and she loved animals. her favorite color was red. One of her favorite songs was "Reasons" by Earth Wind and Fire.
Mildred worked at Independence Court of Monroeville as a CNA. Later she was employed with Allegheny County Foster Care System. When families were in emergency crisis, she opened her home to many children to keep them safe, which made a huge impact on their lives.
Mildred is survived by two sons, Thomas Van Williams, Jr. and Marcus Vaughn Williams, daughter Tamika Lovette Willis (Timothy), Sister Wilma Craighead, Sister-in-law Ruth Wilson (Herman); four grandchildren Thomas Williams, Marcus Davaughn Williams, Lanyia Willis, and Shaquala Pennington and seven Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and her long-time caregiver Daryl White.
