Mildred "Millie" Davis, age 81, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, entered eternal rest on September 18, 2025, at UPMC Shadyside.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 30, 1943, Millie was the beloved daughter of Garl and Ethel Mae Germany. She grew up in a close-knit family with her siblings: Joyce, Ralph, Grover, Karen, and Llewellyn whose bonds shaped the woman she would become. Millie also had 11 half-brothers and sisters that lived in Pittsburgh, which she highly respected., adored and cherished their lifelong relationships as siblings.
Millie graduated from Englewood High School before pursuing her studies at the Art Institute of Chicago. With a deep love of learning, she later relocated to Pittsburgh, where she earned her bachelor's degree in business from Robert Morris University and continued her education at Sawyer Business School.
In Pittsburgh, she built a beautiful life with her husband, the late Pastor Elder Frank A. Davis, Sr. Together they raised three children: Frank, Karmen, and James, instilling in them values of faith, perseverance, and love. Millie was the proud grandmother of Bryan, Anthony, Tevin, Jazmine, Jada, James, Justin, Jason, Jaedyn, Dorian, and Maya, Asia, Alona, Dylan and the cherished great-grandmother of fourteen- Lailah, William, Zamirah, Bryce, Austin, Parker, Tristan, Joshua, JEnea, Byron, Skylar, Kymoriah, Kartyr. She also held a special place in the lives of her nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Professionally, Millie was a licensed realtor who sold real estate for Century 21, earning respect for her integrity, knowledge, and dedication to her clients. She was also deeply devoted to her calling in the church, serving faithfully as the First Lady of Miracle Church of God in Christ alongside her husband, PAstor Frank A. Davis, Sr. In this role, she touched countless lives through encouragement, wisdom, and compassion.
Gifted with creativity and skill, Millie was a talented artist and seamstress. She took joy in sewing everything from elegant suits she wore to work at the bank to casual clothing for herself and her children. Her creations, always crafted with love, often outshone what could be found in stores. Through her art and craftsmanship, she expressed her devotion to her family and left lasting reminders of her care.
Faith was the cornerstone of Millie's life. Passionate about the Lord and her church community, she lived her faith daily through service, kindness, and love. Known for her outgoing spirit, she never met a stranger. She encouraged and uplifted those around her, treating everyone the same and offering guidance with honesty and transparency. Her favorite hymn, "I'm Going Up Yonder, by Walter Hawkins, reflected her steadfast hope and unwavering devotion to God.
Millie's honesty and wisdom will be long remembered. With her oft-repeated phrase, "I can't help that," she gently taught the importance of boundaries and focusing on what truly matters. Her Life was a testament to strength, faith, creativity, and love. She will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered by her family, church, and all who were blessed to know her.
