Michael Dennis White

Michael “Mike” Dennis White was born on September 13, 1956, to the late Eloise and Albert White. He was their third son. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the Belmar Gardens neighborhood. He attended Colfax Elementary School from Kindergarten through the eighth grade. He then attended Taylor Allderdice High School, where he graduated with his High School Diploma in June of 1976. He enlisted in the United States Army directly after high school. He was stationed in Fort Eustis, Virginia, where he received his Diploma for Aircraft Turbine Engine Repair in November 1976. He completed his service in the Army, and soon after he was accepted into the Police Academy. (He loved to tell the story of how his becoming a police officer started as a bet with a friend) As in everything he did, he excelled and completed the required training. Michael graduated from the Police Academy on May 31, 1985.

In 1999 he received a LEAD award for outstanding performance in Law Enforcement. He continued his career as an outstanding Police officer in the City of Pittsburgh until he retired in March of 2017. He loved adventure, technology, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Throughout his life, and even in retirement, Mike was going to have a good time. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Eloise & Albert White Sr., his brother Richard White, and grandson Jonathan Freeman Jr.

He leaves behind his eldest brother Albert White Jr., and 4 daughters. His only child Michelle (Marcus) White-Barren and the children he chose were Raquel (Jonathan) Barren-Freeman, Ronique Barren, and Raquia Barren-Pope. His grandchildren Taiyon, James, Taleah, Jayden, Joslyn, Tiara, Kaleb, Tameron, Kamden, Tanner, Avery, Kobe, & Adonis, as well as 2 great-grandchildren Khayden and Jaxon; and a host of family and friends.
