On this day, we come together to celebrate the life of Micah Hobbs, a miraculous blessing born to Victoria Locust and Frederick Hobbs! Micah enjoyed life to the fullest. He attended grade school in Pittsburgh before moving to Los Angelos, California, where he spent his middle years. Later, Micah relocated back to Pittsburgh, where he attended and graduated from North Hills High School.
Micah later used his God-given gifts and talents when he became a Union Carpenter with Heavy Highway Carpenter Local Union 2274 in Pittsburgh. He told his family and wrote in his memoir that he loved driving on the bridges he helped build. He always remarked about how it gave him a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Later, Micah was honored as a Journeyman. Unfortunately, on Good Friday, April 6, 2012, Micah had a near-fatal experience on a construction site. A malfunction in the equipment caused Micah to fall, and he became crushed under the weight of a 2-ton object. Micah was rushed to Mercy Hospital, and in his Memoir, he wrote that he had so many family members and loved ones in the waiting room praying for him. He also mentioned that he believes their fervent prayers helped keep him alive!
On his road to recovery, Micah attended Ministry school and started his non-profit organization Heavenbound Ministries and a TV series that he was very proud of, "What's Good Pittsburgh!" This was where he showcased many local talents and informed Pittsburgh about upcoming events, news, or concerns. Micah had a larger-than-life personality and an incredible smile. He left everyone feeling special and blessed. Those who personally knew him referred to him by one or more of these names: HeavenBound, Batman, or OG LA! His greeting coming in or going out was "SHALON!"
Micah is preceded in death by his grandparents, Elizabeth and Oliver King, Theresa Hobbs-Banks, Fred Hobbs, and Larry Robinson. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Lisa Robinson-Hobbs, his daughter Tenisha, son Levante, and his granddaughter, Ayla. He was also awaiting the birth of his second granddaughter babygirl (A), whom he lovingly nicknamed his "A Team!" His mother, Victoria Locust (Frank), and his father, Frederick Hobbs (Geiorgette), His sister Danisha, and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many loved ones.
