Our dear mother, Mary Jean Savage was the precious daughter of Bernard Douglas Wood and Nellie Louise Maddison. She was born March 4th in 1933 in Pittsburgh Hospital and happily welcomed her first home at 6124 Orphan Street by the extended family where she grew up. It didn't take long to realize how extremely intelligent she was.
Later, joined by three siblings, Louise (Fatty), Bernard (Sam) and Gerald. She eventually welcomed 3 younger siblings, Caryl Sandy and Bart. She enjoyed playing with her sisters and brothers. She started her education in Larimer grade school; later attending Westinghouse High always an honor student and graduated with honors. Jean was athletic, she loved to swim and run. She married her high school sweetheart Nathaniel Williams and became the proud mother to 5 children, Montera (Terri), Caren, Gerald (Poncho), Diane (Tootie), and Richelle (Ricci).
She then went on to fulfill her dream to become a nurse. Being a dedicated hard worker, she achieved her dream and became a great nurse.
Jean was a self sacrificing person. Sh was very artistic and good at sewing. She designed clothing for her daughters. She had a green thumb for gardening. She loved to sing and dance. She taught her daughters how to "two step."
When she became ill, she was lovingly cared for at the home of her daughter Caren Wright for 5 1/2 years. Jean was well loved by many who came by to offer help. We will really miss her and always love her, but anyone who ever knew her will never forget her.
She leaves to mourn her sisters Louise Grigsby, Carly and Sandra Weaver and brother Thomas (Bart) Weaver (Tiera). She is also survived by her daughters Caren Wright, Diane Williams and Richelle Diamond Burse (Rome).
She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, Leighton, Dorian, Jayland, Leighton, Raymond, Curtis, Star, Shantel, Lawrence, Summer, Michael, Gerren, Richelle, Kristen, Alya, Aleise, Brennon and a host of great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lee Savage, her mother and other siblings Bernard Wood and Gerald Wood. Her daughter (Montera Arnold, son Gerald Williams (Poncho) and grandsons Steven Darnell Daniels, Ryan Arnold and Jordan Williams and granddaughter Bria Williams.
She started studying with Jehovah's Witnesses and was baptized in 2011.
