Mag affectionately known as ‘Nean’ was born in Union, SC. to Maggie (McCluney) and Charlie Farr. She graduated from Sims High School, which is where she met the love of her life, Willie C. (Dug) Lindsay. They married on October 12, 1946, and raised four children together. Four of her six siblings joyfully met her at the pearly gates.
She was a long-time member of Lily Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Baptist Temple Church where she sang in the Women’s Choir and eagerly served as a member of the Hospitality Ministry. Her favorite bible verse was Galatians 6:7-8 which reads in part, “A man reaps what he sows…whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Mag sowed good seeds and reaped the blessings of doing so throughout her 92 years on earth.
She cared about family and was a wise and helpful advisor to all calling each person annually to give birthday wishes and get caught up on their families and lives. Mag was not easily forgotten for her opinionated personality, feistiness, determination, and strong will. She pegged herself a “Jack of all trades and master of none.” A true fashionista, she loved sewing, cooking, and gardening. Cheering for her Pittsburgh Steelers was her favorite pastime!
Mag graduated from Ideal Beauty School and enjoyed working as a beautician from the comfort of her home for many years. A licensed realtor, she worked with Ghafoor Real Estate for nearly 30 years.
