Mark Gibson Obituary

On March 23, 2026, Mark Allen Gibson transitioned peacefully from this
life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family. He
was born August 17, 1948, to Mary Gibson of Gates, Pennsylvania, and
raised by his grandparents, Florence and Lawrence Gibson.
Mark was educated in the Laurel Highlands School District and later earned
his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Robert Morris
University, and was a member of the National Accountants Society. He
began a long and dedicated career as an accountant, serving in
supervisory roles for over 30 years with two of Pittsburgh's major utility
corporations, People’s Natural Gas Company and Equitable Gas Company.
Mark later transitioned from corporate America to the human service field at
the Three Rivers Center for Independent Living, where he served as a case
manager for individuals with disabilities.
In 1966, Mark met the love of his life, Nancy Lorraine Addison. Their love
story blossomed, and they were united in marriage on September 21, 1968.
Together, they built a beautiful life, and from this union were born Marcia
Lorraine Gibson and Natalie Lynn Gibson. Mark was a proud and devoted
“girl dad,” always supporting his daughters in their recreational and
professional pursuits, from basketball, softball, and bowling to education,
ministry, and career.
Naturally quiet, Mark possessed a warm spirit and a wonderful sense of
humor. People loved Mark, along with his top-secret potato salad recipe,
bear-like hugs, and unmistakable laugh. He had a unique ability to connect
with others, and those who knew him will always remember his soft-spoken
nature and kind heart.
In his leisure time, Mark found quiet enjoyment in reading the newspaper,
playing golf, and watching sports. But most of all, he was a devoted fan of
the Pittsburgh Steelers, proudly holding season tickets. A man of faith,
Mark became a member of The Lord’s Church in 1990, where he
expressed his passion for playing the trumpet as a part of the Praise and
Worship Team. In addition, Mark was an active participant in the men’s
Bible study. Mark also enjoyed collecting vintage car replicas, a hobby that
brought him great jo
