OBITUARY
On May 3, 2021, Marilyn Jackson-Young departed her life here on earth, reuniting with her late husband, Frank Jackson II and mother, Earlene Blassingame. She was born Marilyn Gertrude Stroud to Fred Stroud & Earlene Blassingame on April 5, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA. She grew up in Homewood on a farm and had a beloved pet duck, named Chico. Although she was an only child, she and her 1st cousins were raised as siblings. She graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1970 and shortly after married her husband, Frank. In 1971, Frank & Marilyn welcomed their son Frank Jackson III and 18 months later they were blessed with their daughter, Tonya Shannell Earlene Jackson. In 1981, they moved from Homewood and purchased a home in Stanton Heights, where her home became the place to gather! She became a widow in 1985 after the passing of her husband and once she became an empty nester, she began to foster children. She went on to adopt the last 5 children she fostered; Damiene, Christopher, Taymar, Jamal, & Jaquala. Marilyn retired from Port Authority in 2001 after dedicating over 20 years to the company. After her retirement, she had more time to do some of her favorite things: shop and gamble! She was known for a good card party! She loved to host her family and make large feasts for the holidays. She was an active member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church where she dedicated her life to the Lord. She is now partying with the angels and she will be greatly missed. She has left to celebrate her life, her oldest living cousin, Carrie Hughes Deakings, her 7 children Frank Jackson III, Tonya Jackson, Damiene Young, Christopher Young, Tamar Young, Jamal Young, & Jaquala Young, 10 grandchildren: LaShesia Narae Holliday, FaShae Jackson, DaNell Jackson-Edge, Darnae Marilyn Jackson-Edge, Dajuan Davis, Taymar’s daughter, Jaquan Young, Jamira Young, Jahkire Young, Damiene Young Jr., 11 great grandchildren, and a host of friends & relatives.
