Marilyn Brannon Cross, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, died unexpectedly in her home in Monroeville, PA on August 9, 2021.
Marilyn was born on August 7, 1950 in Gary, West Virginia to Gwendolyn Clarke Brannon and Thomas Sylvester Robertson. Marilyn graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1968. On March 13, 1982, Marilyn married the love of her life, Mr. Michael Cross, in an intimate wedding ceremony at Nazarene Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA. Marilyn was baptized in 1983 by Reverend Ricky Van Burgess, accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and savior at a ceremony at Nazarene. Marilyn and her husband Michael then accepted the right hand of fellowship and joined the body of believers at Nazarene. On August 6, 1985 and March 5, 1987, respectively, Marilyn and Michael welcomed their two children, Ashley Cinnay Cross (now Ashley Cross Butler) and Michael Jermaine Cross. Marilyn worked as an Executive Secretary at Westinghouse Electric Corp. from 1977-1997. She later worked as a Legal Secretary at Bank of New York Mellon from 1997 until her retirement in 2016.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Marilyn was loyal, caring, kind, honest, and thoughtful. Marilyn was a private woman, who lived her life with integrity, purpose and grace. Marilyn was an avid reader, a puzzle enthusiast, a lover of traveling and cooking, and spending quality time with her close friends and family.
Marilyn is predeceased by her older brother, Gerald Brannon; her younger brother, Larry Brannon; her mother, Gwendolyn Clarke Brannon; and her father, Thomas Sylvester Robertson.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Michael Cross; her son, Michael Jermaine Cross; her daughter, Ashley Cross Butler and her husband, Andrew Benjamin Butler; and her grandchildren, Camden Francis Butler, and Josephine Drew Butler.
