The interesting life of Maria (Letha) Carmack

Born in the town of Sorsogon, PI although she  had siblings (sis) Pasansha (bro) Heronimo, (bro)Rolando and baby bro Josiah. Maria being much young and adventurous would wake-

up at 4 a.m. to go off to one of her father's stores (he owned a chain of bakeries) to observe and help. At a great aunts request Maria was to visit her favorite aunt who lived hundreds of

miles away.

Unfortunately, Japan invaded the Philippines. When Maria went home accompanied by a family helper there was no town, no shops, but most importantly no family. Hearing everyone

went to the mountains, she decided to go too. Maria was 14 yrs old, but she was educated, not only from school. It was an unsure time but people kinda put Maria in charge since she

could speak English, Italian and many island dialects.

But talk about adventurous she would climb trees to watch dog fights, that's when a Japanese plane would try to shoot down American planes at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines.

It's now been a few years for Maria from being served at dinning tables to digging up cans of salmon placed in holes in the ground, but the group sustained by doing American G.I. laundry

(Maria didn't wash  a sock) she just wrote the info. Maria was one of the blessed ones. From threw know she met Mack and he promised her aunt that he would build her a house and he

built a beautiful house. God Bless us all
