Lynne Lamar Thompson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at the age
of 72 while in the loving care of Canterbury Place Hospice in Lawrenceville, PA. She
was preceded in death by her parents, the late Earl E. and Virginia J. Palmer, and her
nephew, Donald Crawford.
Lynne leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughters, Monica D. Lamar of
Pittsburgh, PA, and Monique D. Lamar (Terrence) of Upper Marlboro, MD and Tamara
Lynn Unger (Lee) of Penn Hills, PA; her grandchildren, Cason Joseph Sloan and Caiden
Jai Sloan. She is also survived by her three sisters: Bernadine J. Crawford (Donus Jr.),
Beverly L. Harris (Timothy) of New Jersey, and Laurita Palmer of Maryland. Her legacy
continues through her nieces, Tiffany Lee Basinger (Matthew) and Doni Crawford, and
her nephews, Timothy Earl Harris, Donus Crawford III, Don Crawford and Terrance
Eugene Harris. Her great nieces Tamia Nicole Basinger and Arielle Diane Harris and her
great nephews Tariq Francis, Troy Matthew Basinger and Taylen King Harris. Lynne’s
extended family spans coast to coast, with loved ones in Arkansas, California, Michigan,
Maryland, and Ohio.
Lynne was blessed with a wide circle of friends—many formed in childhood and others
through her work and life in Pittsburgh. A business owner and community advocate, she
lived with a deep commitment to helping others and making life better for those around
her. A proud graduate of Schenley High School, Class of 1971. Lynne devoted many
years to motherhood before pursuing her passion for criminal justice. She earned a
Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice–Law Enforcement from American
InterContinental University in 2010 and remained dedicated to her interests in law and
business ownership throughout her life.
Family and friends remember Lynne as a larger-than-life persona who never met a
stranger and welcomed everyone as a friend. She was known for her generous spirit,
caring heart, and unmatched ability to tell stories that filled rooms with laughter. From
her father, she learned the art of building lifelong friendships; from her mother, she
inherited a servant’s heart and a deep love for the Lord.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at House of
Law, 9406 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills, PA. 15235. A memorial service will occur on
Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at New Destiny CME Church, 825 Lorenz
Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. Immediately following the service, family, close friends,
and out-of-town guests are invited to share food and memories in the church fellowship
hall. The eulogy will be delivered by Rev. Lydia Evelyn Spragin.
Lynne’s final resting place will be Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
