Louis York Obituary

Louis T. York (L.T.) was born on March 16, 1936.  He was one of fourteen children born to Charlie Buster York and Jessie Lee Bolden of Belzoni, Mississippi.  At a young age L.T. understood the value of hard work, faith, and family.  While living in Mississippi L.T. met Mary Anderson.  From this relationship his oldest daughter, Bonnie York was born.

As a young man, L.T. moved from Mississippi, to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania where he later met and married Shirley Ann Holt in 1979.  He lived in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania with his wife and two daughters, Naomi York-Abdullah and Ashanti York for well over 20 years.  L.T. later moved to the Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he passed peaceful in the comfort of his home on August 1, 2018.

L.T. was employed by Devereux Chevrolet, Hill House Association, then later worked for Biondi Motor Company where he was known as the hardest working detailer in the body shop.  He took pride in his work and always believed that any job worth doing, was worth doing well.  His reward was the smile on the customers’ face, a firm handshake from his boss, a nod from his co-workers, and returning home to his loving family each evening.

When L.T. wasn’t working and spending time with his wife and daughters, he enjoyed the quite silence of fishing, visiting Mississippi every summer for his family reunion, and enjoying a crisp cold beer with friends.  His contagious laugh and southern accent could be heard miles away as he retold adventurous stories from his childhood.

Louis T. York leaves to cherish his wife; Shirley Ann York, three daughters; Naomi York-Abdullah (Lawrence Abdullah), Ashanti York, Bonnie York; three sisters, Betty Burks (Roy), Luberdia Berry, Emma Willis; three brothers, Henry York (Rose), Tommy York (Louise), Eddie B. York; nine grandchildren, Tieriq Pinnix, Billie Holt, Saeed Holt, Imani Holt, Makaylah Abdullah, Ania Holt, Nevaeh Holt, Lauren Abdullah, Martina Holt; best friends; Romi Yates, Jr. and Earvin Mims, a special nephew James York and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Louis was proceed in death by his father, mother, four sisters, Ruby Lee York, Josephine York, Linda York, and Rosie Lee York and three brothers, Roosevelt York, Charlie Buster Jr., and James York.

Louis would like to let you know that his work here is done.  He received a call from the King of Kings, an offer he could not refuse for a road trip from which he will not be returning.  This offer comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time.  His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will enjoy fishing, socializing, and gardening until his heart is content.  Music, laughter, and love are overflowing. He left detailed instructions for family and friends to celebrate his life and legacy here on earth while he is joined in Heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
