Loretta Sandidge Obituary

On December 30, 2019,  Loretta Susan Johnson (Sandidge) died peacefully at Canterbury Place Hospice.  Loretta also known as "Lo", was the oldest of ten children.  Born to Russell and Susan Johnson.

Loretta attended Westinghouse High School.  After high school, she became a commercial facilities cleaner.  Then she went on to work for Schiff Printing Company until she married Andrew Sandidge.  Once she  married Andrew, she moved to Amherst, Virginia and was employed at the Wintergreen Ski Resorts.  Twenty years later, she moved back to her hometown, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to be near her two daughters and grandchildren.  Loretta had a special bond with all of her grandchildren.  She adored and loved them dearly.  All of the grandchildren called her "Gran".

Loretta loved to cook.  Especially during the holidays.  Her favorites were sweet potato pies, lemon meringue pie and cornbread dressing.  She also loved to played cards.  Bid Whist was her favorite game.  Many days, she'd play all night; til early morning with her two daughters in tow.  And even after suffering a stroke, wheel chair bound, Loretta was going to play Bid Whist.  Those were her pastimes: cooking and playing cards.

Loretta was proceeded in death by her parents: Susan McBride and Russell Johnson.  Her three siblings: Patricia Blair (sister) and Ethel Lee Blair (sister) and Chris Blair (brother).

Loretta is survived by her two daughters: Michelle (Julius) Hopson and Nicole Johnson and fiance' Richard Worley.  Siblings: Alvin Johnson, McKinley Blair, William Blair (Anita), Cherlyie (William) Blair Fuller, Patricia Blair (deceased), Marie (David) Adams, Janet (Albert) Blair-Raible.  Grandchildren: Maurice Johnson, Julius L. Hopson III, Marquise Hopson, Jereme Johnson and Chelsea Lee. Great-grandchildren: Javon J. Johnson, Jeliyah Nicole Johnson, Jereme J. Johnson, Jayonna Nicole Johnson and Julius-Anthony L. Hopson IV.
