Leola Marie Mitchell was born on February 15, 1940, in Apalachicola, Florida. She was the daughter of Georgia Livingston.
Leola attended and graduated from Wallace M. Quinn High School in Florida. She moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the age of 20 years old to be with her sister, Joan. Shortly after moving to Pittsburgh while working at Shadyside Hospital she met the love of her life Robert Cook.
On September 26, 1962, they united in holy matrimony. To this union two children, Roderick Lamont and Dava Cherie were born.
They would have celebrated 60 years marriage in September.
She was employed at Shadyside Hospital and after years of service she retired.
Leola was a longtime member of the Catholic Church where she served as a Christian Mother and volunteered in the food bank. She also enjoyed watching her cowboys, doing her word search and being with family.
On May 8, 2022, God called her home. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Earl Livingston and Charles Livingston; and three sisters, Grethel Sweet, Keturah Robinson and Joan Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, children Roderick Lamon and Dava Cherie Cook; six grandchildren, Alona Washington, Shanicka Roberts, Shaquila Roberts, Ellis Roberts, Robert Cook, and Brendan Cook; nine great-greatchildren, Treonna Washington, Ny’Azia Roberts, Raymir Jones, Mekiyah Washington, Tyriek Moore, Tyrell Moore, Sincere Slade, Amir Jones, A’saun Roberts (due in June) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
