Lawrence H. Tyler, Jr.

Lawrence Harrison Tyler, Jr was born on January 18, 1957, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Lawrence Harrison Tyler, Sr. and Mary Catherine Rideout Tyler. Lawrence received his formal education through the Pittsburgh Public School System, graduating from Peabody High School on June 4, 1975. He was lovingly given a family nickname, “Little Lawrence,” which was totally the opposite of the tall stature he achieved.

Lawrence was joined in marriage with Deborah Ann Coles Tyler on June 19, 1982. From their union, three children were born: Christopher Louis Tyler, De Anna Marie Tyler, and Elena Nicole Tyler.

During his teenage years, Lawrence was fond of and good at playing basketball. He played in many leagues sponsored by various neighbourhoods and organizations throughout the city. He worked in the maintenance department of Point Park College. Then, he went on to work as a School Security Officer for the Pittsburgh Public School System. Prior to taking medical leave, Lawrence worked as a Lead Parking Attendant at Duquesne University for close to twenty years. He was fond of fishing and putting jigsaw puzzles together. Lawrence amassed quite a collection of DVDs and was an avid coin collector. These collections were his prized possessions. Lawrence was dubbed “The Cookie Man” by the local cheerleading organization for he loved making cookies to support them.  

Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Deborah; their three children, Christopher, De Anna, and Elena; Sister, Jennifer Lauren Tyler; Brothers: Timothy Martin Tyler, Nathan Ellis Tyler (Reneen Hewlett Tyler), and Marc Anthony Szoszorek; Grandchildren: De Arrah Monique Tyler, De Monte Allen Wright, La Deya Angelique Wright, Landon Eugene Tyler-Redman, and Le Anna Aries Tyler-Redman; great-grandson: Emerei Harrison Rose. Also, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family members.
