Katie Mae Thorne

Katie Mae Thorne was born on December 17, 1930 to Thomas Bentley and Emma Folly in Forsythe, Georgia. Katie received her education in the Georgia School System. As a teen Katie moved to Columbus, Ohio to live with her sister Janie. There she met Luther Jefferson and they married and were blessed with five children: Thomas, Author, Emma Jean, Luthaniel and Randy. Katie relocated to Pittsburgh from Columbus, Ohio. She continued her career in helping others in customer service. Katie met Luther Thorne and they were united in marriage a few years later. Katie was an active and faithful member St. James Baptist Church for over 40 years. She served as an usher and volunteered in various areas of the church. On July 4, 2021 Katie was called home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by four children, Thomas, Emma Jean, Luthaniel and Randy Jefferson and her sister, Janie Jackson. Katie leaves to cherish her memory one son, Author Jefferson; 3 grandchildren, Tom and Joy Bentley and Virgie Humphrey; 12 greatgrandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends
