Juanita Thelma Turner was born in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania on January 21, 1952. She was the eighth child born to Daniel Grady Oatneal and Elizabeth Oatneal. She attended the McKeesport School District graduating from McKeesport High School. After graduation she attended Penn State University and received her Associates Degree in Radiology. “Nita” as she was affectionately known was employed at Allegheny General Hospital for 42 years. After many years of dedicated service she retired in 2012. Nita accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of the St. James Baptist Church for over 40 years and loved spreading the good of news of Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Choir and participated in many church events. Nita was a strong, funny and warm women. She was not afraid of voicing her opinion to anyone. She was a fierce and protective mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved to entertain guest, inviting them to her home of which she adored so much. Nita loved the holiday season celebrating with her family and friends, especially Christmas.
Nita leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Marcia Turner (fiancé, Drew); step-son, Henry Turner; granddaughters, Briana Fitzgerald, Mya Fitzgerald, and Sky Turner; and great-grandson, Julian Paul; siblings, Josephine Scott, Harry Oatneal (Patricia), and Ernest Oatneal (Gloria); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She preceded in death by three brothers, Grady Oatneal, Richard Oatneal, and Stanford Oatneal; two sisters, Florence Parris, Etta Oatneal; one nephew, Harold Oatneal; and one great-nephew, Omar McDonald.
