On December 19, 19655 , Jowanda Green was born to Nellie Mae and Joe Green in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She departed this temporal life in preference to life eternal on Wednesday August 3, 2022, shortly after 4:00 PM.
Jowanda graduated from Thiel College and later found a passion for cooking and she was soon eager to attend Culinary Arts School , she soon graduated and received her certificate in Culinary. As a dedicated employee at UPMC for many years , "Joey" as she was affectionately called , ended her career with them as a Research Analyst. Joey's biggest aspiring dream was to pursue the culinary field immediately after retirement.
On December 3, 2005, Jowanda was united in Holy Wedlock to Mark Greenlee. A beautiful daughter , Shauntel, was born to this union. During their journey , Joey and Mark maintained their residence in Pittsburgh where they enjoyed the company of many loving family members.
Joey had many accomplishments, but being a mother and grandmother were her biggest achievements, overall. She made sure to show love and compassion to everyone she met. Dancing , cooking, and making others laugh and being the life of the party or family event were Joey's traits. Traveling the world was a must , and that's exactly what Joey and Mark did. From Paris, Canada, England, and even Spain-- Joey made sure her bucket list of travel adventures was filled.
A point of maturity was reached in Jowanda's life when she professed a hope in Christ , and united with the fellowship of Mount Ararat Baptist Church . She was an active member and Spiritual Leader of Saturday Night Usher Board which she enjoyed and was very proud to be a part of.
She was preceded in death by her sisters , Bernice Washington and Barbera Kersh. Jowanda leaves to mourn her husband, Mark Greenlee: her daughter : Shauntel Green: granddaughter , Maniah Diggs : twin sisters Annette Green Gennette Tanks: one brother, Lawrence Green: one brother -in-law, John Kersh: a host of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
