Joseph H. Ellis, affectionately known as “Poochie,” was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 25, 1948. He was the beloved son of the late Myrtle Ellis and the late Henry Cathie. Joseph attended the Pittsburgh Public School System, where he attended Larimer Elementary School and later graduated from Westinghouse High School. He was employed by Westinghouse Corporation and the Trau Lovener Company, where he worked faithfully for many years. Joseph enjoyed fishing during his spare time and found joy in helping others. He volunteered at North Side Common Ministries, where he was honored with the Celebration of Caring Award for his dedication and service to the community.
On May 5, 2026 Joseph departed this life. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Walter Ellis, affectionately known as “Sonny,” and his sister, Thelma Ellis, lovingly known as “Daisy.” Joseph leaves to cherish his precious memory to his daughters, Kesha Ellis and Mrs. Donna Brooks, along with other children; grandchildren, Jayla Ellis, Deresha Ellis, Charles Fisher Jr., Corey Fisher, and Montez Graham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Joseph was known for his warm spirit, kindness, and friendly personality. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
